Keeper (Curator) of prints and drawings at the Victoria and Albert Museum, 1921-1935; bibliophile. Hardie was the son of James Hardie, a headmaster at Linton House, a grammar school in London, and Marion Pettie. He attended Linton House and then St. Paul's School, London, were he won prizes for drawing. In 1895 Hardie entered Trinity College, Cambridge, graduating in1898. He joined the South Kensington Museum (later Victoria and Albert Museum) working in the library. He married Agnes Madeline Pattisson (b. 1876/7) in 1903.

He was educated, through scholarships, at St. Paul's and then Magdalen College, Oxford University, graduating in history 1937. Hayward joined the Economic Research Department, a conservative think tank run by the Tory party. His avocation, however, was collecting arms and amour; he volunteered at the Wallace Collection under James G. Mann.

Brithish curator and drawings collector; scholar of Raphael and Botticelli, later British artists. Oppé was the son of Siegmund Armin Oppé, a silk merchant, and Pauline Jaffé (Oppé). He attended St. Andrews University and then New College, Oxford, where he majored in classics. After graduation, he was appointed a professor's assistant in Greek in 1902 at St. Andrews, advancing to lecturer in 1904 and Lecturer in ancient history at Edinburgh University.

Art historian and leading scholar of the Pre-Raphaelite art movement; produced the definitive reference book for Dante Gabriel Rossetti. Born Virginia Bell in London to Bertha Bell (1891–1974) and Edward Bell (1882–1924). Her father, a Harvard graduate and friend of Franklin D. Roosevelt, was appointed chargé d'affaires of the U.S. in Beijing in 1922. Therefore, Virginia and her older sister Evangeline (1914-1995) spent their early childhood in China.

Museum director; key figure in the decriminalization of homosexuality in England in 1960’s. Winter was the son of Carl Winter and his wife Ethel Hardy (Winter). He attended Xavier College (Victoria, Australia, a prep school) before entering Newman College, University of Melbourne.
