Richards served five years as assistant to the curator of the Allen Memorial Art Museum at Oberlin College.  She joined the Print division of the Cleveland Museum of Art in 1952, under the direction of Beatrice Proske. In 1967, Richards made the momentous discovery that a famous print ,The Battle of the Nudes by Antonio del Pollaiuolo, in the Museum’s collection was a first-state of the print, still today the only one known. Richards authored and co-authored many exhibition catalogs for the Museum, many with Associate Curator Louise Prasse.
